Why do chartered accountants refer their clients to us?
From an outside perspective, if you don’t understand the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant, it may seem odd that a number of chartered accountants refer their clients to us. But it’s actually in the best interest of the chartered accountant and their client. Here’s why.
The work we do is not the work they want to do or can afford to do.
Chartered Accountants are busy focusing on delivering financial forecasts, year-end financial
accounts and income tax returns, not coding, reconciliations and payroll. They haven’t trained for 7 years to do that basic transaction processing work. That’s where we come in. But we also help clean up accounts to ensure they’re ready for your accountant when the end-of-year accounts role around.
We're not their competition. In fact, we make their lives a lot easier!
Our focus is on being bookkeepers, not accountants. We've spoken about this at length in one of our previous blog posts: “The Difference Between Bookkeepers And Accountants”. But to put it simply, bookkeepers handle the day-to-day transactions for businesses including invoicing, reconciliations, payroll and basic financial reports which enable accountants to prepare more accurate tax returns, tax planning and deeper financial analysis. When we do the bookkeeping work it makes their job a lot easier at the end of the financial year. This also means we push any work outside of our scope back to the accountant.
We’re reputable, honest, and all our bookkeepers are, well... bookkeepers.
It's pretty simple. We're bookkeepers, not accountants, and we don't try to be accountants. Instead, we focus on what we're great at and we send the end-of-year financial accounts, income tax returns, financial forecasts, etc. back to the accountants.
We also have very strict recruitment guidelines. All of our bookkeepers undergo quality control tests, police checks and reference checks to ensure their work meets our high standards. We’re proud to have a great team who are experts.
