Time to review your bookkeeping?

Do you really need a full time bookkeeper?

Have you heard the story of how to boil a frog?  There are two ways, firstly you can boil a pot of water on the stove and when it’s boiling throw the frog in. However this generally results in the frog jumping straight out of the pot. The most efficient way to boil a frog is to put him in a pot of cold water and slowly turn the heat up, then bingo...your boiled frog sir.

I know you don’t read these blogs to learn how to boil frogs (although I am sure it will come in handy one day!) but sometimes your bookkeeping can be in the same situation as that second frog, it’s slowly, over time, being boiled!

There is so much innovation going on in the bookkeeping and accounting area at the moment that if we are not keeping up we are going backwards really fast.  We see this often in many of the small businesses we work with.  The bookkeeping function has been done by the same person for many years and nothing new has been implemented, or the bookkeeping is being done by someone who is a great administrator but an average bookkeeper. Sound familiar?  The end result is inefficiency, inaccurate financial information for making decisions and a frustrated chartered accountant at the end of the financial year!

If you haven’t reviewed your back office function for some time then maybe now is a good time to do it. A dollar saved is a dollar earned as Benjamin Franklin once said, so let us help.  Our bookkeepers are fast, efficient and continually learning new tools and techniques to keep your back office bookkeeping running super efficiently.

You may think you need a bookkeeper for 2 or 3 days a week or even full time but it may be that an efficient and innovative approach can cut that in half or substantially reduce it from what it is now, as we have seen with many of our clients.
